Going Paperless!
As you may already know, work in finance and bookkeeping in general has traditionally been very heavy in the use of paper. While it is necessary to have a proper document trial, we know the environmental impact of paper use. So, in Finance we have taken on several different projects in the last year to begin to expand our use digital storage of records. Most recently, we have been visiting all schools in the district to provide the school admin assistants with a desktop scanner. This will be used to digitize financial records, both for submission to the Finance Department for payment and for the school’s own management of its school generated funds. In addition to using the scanners for just the financial processes, the school admin assistants will have the scanners available for lots of other purposes in their daily work. We’ve also arranged for the school admin assistants to have access to Adobe Pro to help sort and edit their scans. We are very excited about the benefits of this project – from the reduction of paper consumption to the ease of accessing digital records to the streamlining and improved efficiencies of financial processes. We are hoping to have all the scanners rolled out in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for future paper savings opportunities in the Finance world.
