2025/26 Budget Development

We have begun developing the 2025/26 budget, starting with enrolment projections for the next three years. Overall, regular enrolment is anticipated to increase by 136 FTE in 2025/26, with another increase of 158 FTE for the 2026/27 year and then level off with an increase of 15 in 2027/28.

The provincial budget was announced on March 4, 2025. We will know the impact of this announcement when our District grant is announced on March 14, 2025. Discussions on staffing levels will take place in early April, prior to the first round of postings. On April 15, 2025, information to assist with community consultation will be provided to schools. The Board and Finance Committee will review budget information on April 15, 2025, and again on May 6, 2025, and a presentation to staff will be made at the Superintendent's Meeting on May 8, 2025.  Preliminary budget estimates will be presented to the Board on May 13, 2025. Public information sessions will be held on March 11, 2025, and May 8, 2025, and school community consultations must be completed by May 31, 2025. The Board will debate the 2025/26 Annual Budget Bylaw at the June 18th public meeting.

Year End

As we are approaching the end of another school and fiscal year, there are quite a few deadlines approaching as well. We will email these school and departmental deadlines in the next few weeks. We greatly appreciate your work meeting these deadlines, as our annual audit takes place over the summer months when many of you are not in the office. The Office of the Auditor General will be performing our audit for the next three years, and it is important that we demonstrate strong internal processes.  As always, if you have any questions or concerns about the information we are requesting, please don't hesitate to contact us.
